About the Role:

Take the lead in shaping the technology that keeps ATCO’s data secure, available, and ready to support our businesses. As Data Storage Manager, you’ll combine hands-on expertise with strategic thinking to manage and evolve our enterprise storage environment. You’ll guide capacity and performance management, backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and cyber resiliency while building a long-term roadmap for the technologies behind them.

Working alongside server, storage, and network professionals, as well as service providers and supplier partners, you’ll solve complex infrastructure challenges and help ATCO get greater performance and value from its data storage investments. This is a hands-on operational delivery role where you will manage and operate diverse storage systems spanning enterprise disk arrays, SAN, backup and cyber resiliency solutions; this includes installing and removing equipment in our data centres. As part of this operational support, you’ll participate in a 24/7/365 on-call rotation, which may include providing smart-hands assistance in the data centre for non-storage hardware.

 

What You Get to Do:  

•    Manage ATCO’s on-premise storage environments, including Hitachi, Brocade, and Dell Technologies across multiple data centres
•    Perform day-to-day storage administration for operational and project needs in alignment with service management processes and Operating Level Agreements
•    Hands on installation and decommissioning of hardware in our data centres; includes cable installation/labelling/management, power management, end-to-end hardware installation (receiving, unpacking devices, in-rack installation accounting for varied rail configurations, configuration and testing, and implementation to production) 
•    Monitor capacity and performance, optimizing data placement across enterprise arrays and cloud platforms optimizing cost, availability, and meeting application requirements
•    Manage backup and recovery services to meet disaster recovery objectives, including RTOs and RPOs
•    Strengthen cyber resiliency by advancing storage, backup, and recovery solutions
•    Lead storage technology maintenance, business application support, and infrastructure improvement projects
•    Evaluate emerging technologies, industry practices, and business needs to shape a multi-year storage strategy and annual execution plans
•    Partner with business teams, solution architects, infrastructure leaders, service providers, and suppliers to coordinate priorities and delivery
•    Use cost analysis and forecasting to improve the value, performance, and efficiency of storage investments
•    Support disaster recovery planning and exercises, review outcomes, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement


What You Bring:

•    Post-secondary education in Information Technology 
•    10+ years managing data storage in an Enterprise IT environment
•    Strong Linux skills with a focus on scripting for automation, reporting and configuration
•    Practical knowledge of server hardware, software, networking and infrastructure delivery
•    A collaborative approach to working across infrastructure delivery teams
•    Proficiency with CMDB tools, including maintaining accurate records and using data to support operations and planning
•    Expert skills in installing, configuring and maintaining storage hardware in a controlled data centre environment
•    Clear, professional communication skills, with the judgment to adapt technical information for different audiences in writing and conversation
•    Sound judgment and a practical approach to situational leadership, decision-making, and complex problem-solving
•    Awareness of business and technology trends and how they influence enterprise storage strategy
•    The ability to recognize technical and functional gaps and opportunities within the organization
•    A willingness to share knowledge, coach colleagues, and strengthen team capability
•    Ability to participate in rotational on-call support
•    Experience with Channel and Hitachi disk management, Brocade SAN, Dell Data Domain and Power Protect Data Manager (PPDM) are highly preferred
•    Working knowledge of ITIL processes and their application in an enterprise IT environment is an asset
