Your Opportunity:

The UAH Medicine Relief Team at the University of Alberta Hospital provides relief (float) staff to 14 Medicine units providing care for General Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Pulmonary, Nephrology, GI and Hematology patients. The Medicine program is a dynamic and fast paced adult acute care program dedicated to best practice in providing patient and family centered care. Care is delivered by an interdisciplinary collaborative care team in accordance with the AHS Values, hospital policies and nursing care standards. Specific Accountabilities: As a member of the collaborative, interdisciplinary team, the LPN is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care and practices to full scope as defined by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). This position is anchored to 2C3 but may also be required to float to other medicine units as necessary.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Must be able to work within posted position rotation and shifts. Must be able to push, pull and lift at least 50 lbs. Experience working in a casual or float position preferred Experience working within the CoACT framework preferred Order Processing and Transcription experience preferred IV Certification preferred Ventilator skills preferred
