The Lois Hole Hospital for Women provides expert patient care for women of all ages and in all stages of life located at the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) one of Alberta’s largest and longest-serving hospitals. Centrally located in Edmonton’s downtown core, the RAH serves a diverse community, including some of our province’s most vulnerable populations. The ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care is essential. The successful candidate will handle obstetrical emergencies and care for high risk women with obstetrical and/or medical complications of pregnancy. Primary position responsibility in Antepartum with expectation to provide cross coverage to Assessment/Induction Room, and Labour and Delivery.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Additional Required Qualifications:CPR (BCLS) through Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation is required. Advanced educational studies in obstetrics, including fetal monitoring, are required. Successful completion of medication exam is required at time of interview.
Preferred Qualifications:Certificate in newborn resuscitation (NRP) is an asset. Current IV certification, Central Line skills, blood draws, OBIX certification, Connect Care experience, and Fetal Health Surveillance are preferred.
