As a Recreation Therapist I, you will provide therapeutic recreation services to patients across the lifespan in a specialized rehabilitation setting. As part of an interdisciplinary team, you will collaborate with patients, families, and community partners to deliver evidence-informed care. Responsibilities include completing recreation therapy assessments, developing treatment plans, facilitating individual and group interventions, providing leisure education, evaluating outcomes, and documenting in accordance with professional standards. In this role, you will participate in interdisciplinary rounds, patient conferences, and collaborative care planning. You will also contribute to program development, quality improvement, student education, and the ongoing advancement of therapeutic recreation while expanding your clinical expertise. Description:
As the Recreation Therapist I, you will be working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, providing comprehensive services for patients (clients, residents) within your assigned program or service area. You will ensure the level of therapeutic recreation practice is evidence based, patient-and family-centred, and in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice. You will complete assessment, treatment, education and management and provide clinical support and consultation. You will collaborate and communicate with the health care team and participate in patient rounds, family conferences and meetings as related to the client and family.

Baccalaureate in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies Active or eligibility for Professional Membership with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association
Additional Required Qualifications:Experience in a clinical and/or rehabilitation setting. Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team and build positive relationships with patients, families, and healthcare providers. Knowledge of therapeutic recreation standards, evidence-informed practice, assessment, client and family-centered treatment planning, interventions, evaluation, outcomes, documentation, and collaboration. Experience providing therapeutic recreation to individuals with complex physical, neurological, developmental, cognitive, psychosocial rehabilitation needs in individual/group settings. Ability to manage a diverse clinical caseload using clinical reasoning, organization, prioritization, and time management. Strong verbal/written communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, Teams and Outlook. Ability to develop innovative solutions to complex patient needs and integrate patient- and family-centered care. Commitment to ongoing professional growth through continuing education, reflective practice, and quality improvement. Behaviours consistent with AHS CARES values. Ability to perform 60–70% physical effort, including standing, lifting, bending, reaching, transfers, and therapeutic recreation interventions. Ability to perform 70–80% concurrent mental effort for clinical decision-making, assessment, treatment planning, prioritization, and care coordination. Preferred Qualifications:Experience using standardized assessment tools and outcome measures within a rehabilitation setting. Experience with Connect Care and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training. Experience planning and facilitating aquatic therapeutic recreation interventions. Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist designation. Experience working with individuals with complex rehabilitation needs. A reliable means of transportation. CARI Training Certification.
