Your Opportunity:

If you are an experienced rural nurse with a passion for education, mentorship, and professional practice, this opportunity is for you. You will play a key role in strengthening rural health care across Alberta by supporting the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of education programs for nursing staff working in a variety of rural practice settings. Through collaboration with clinical leaders, educators, and frontline staff, you will contribute to the development of a competent, confident, and practice-ready nursing workforce capable of delivering safe, high-quality patient care. Reporting to the Director, Clinical Education Transition within the Associate Chief Nursing Office (ACNO), you will assess individual, team, and organizational learning needs, identify opportunities to strengthen practice, and help ensure educational programming is relevant and aligned with organizational and professional standards through analysis of learner feedback, competency assessments, quality indicators, practice trends, and emerging healthcare priorities. You will support the design, development, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of educational programs, resources, and learning activities, including orientation, mandatory education, continuing competence initiatives, clinical skills development, simulation, workshops, and virtual learning opportunities. The role provides coaching, mentoring, and practice support, facilitates learning, promotes evidence-informed practice, supports competency development, and assists with implementation of new policies, procedures, technologies, and quality improvement initiatives.

Description:

As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Graduate degree in Nursing or Education. Minimum 5 years' experience as a Clinical Nurse Educator in a rural healthcare setting, including acute care and emergency nursing. Wide scope of experience in the delivery of clinical education. Proficiency in Microsoft Office application.

Preferred Qualifications:

Obstetrical nursing experience. Instructor certification in CTAS, PALS< ACLS, TNCC, ENPC, and/or NRP. Experience in a rural clinical leadership role. Strong knowledge of technology-enabled education development and implementation. Experience collecting and analyzing evaluation data. Change management experience or expertise.
