Description

The Therapy Assistant facilitates person centred care with direction from the appropriate Therapist or Manager. You will perform your Therapy Assistant duties for Rehabilitation Services in accordance with set guidelines standards and best practices. Performs other related duties as assigned/required.

FOR RECREATION THERAPY ASSISTANT POSTINGS ONLY:
Duties include planning, preparation, and providing implementation of therapeutic and leisure activities through providing encouragement, hands on assistance, cueing and leadership, both in facility and in community settings.  These may include scheduling, organizing, and leading group programs such as exercise, pet therapy, computer, horticulture, aquatics, pubnight (serving alcohol), etc. Scheduling, preparing and assisting with direction from a Recreation Therapist and assisting with equipment cleaning, adjustments and maintenance. The successful candidate will be organized and be willing to succeed by incorporating the CapitalCare values into their work.

Qualifications

Graduation from a recognized Therapy Diploma Program (or equivalent) is required. Consideration may be given to those who have trained and worked at a professional Therapist level in another country. Where position involves transportation of residents, a Class IV driver's license, Driver's Abstract with no demerit points and successful completion of a Defensive Driving Course are required. Able to meet CapitalCare's insurance coverage requirements. FOR RECREATION THERAPY ASSISTANT POSTINGS ONLY: Graduation from a recognized Recreation Therapy Diploma program (or equivalent) is required. Consideration may be given to those who have trained and worked as a Recreation Therapist in another country. Recent experience working with individuals that require behavioral supports is an asset.
