We are hiring a full-time, permanent Analyst, Security and Network position working out of Edmonton, AB.

  

As a Security & Network Analyst, you will collaborate with specialized teams to manage and maintain EPCOR’s Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) and support Operational Technology (OT) infrastructure, including data centers and field IP networks. You will be responsible for supporting the full technology stack that enables the safe, secure, and reliable operation of power control systems and remote monitoring and control of substation devices. In this role, you will develop, enhance, and implement processes and innovative technical solutions to meet NERC-CIP requirements while maintaining a highly secure and resilient operating environment.

 

Working as part of the Grid Platforms & Security (GPS) team, you will manage a complex, multi-domain, highly available environment that includes real-time SCADA systems and supporting infrastructure. You will develop a strong understanding of these systems and collaborate with stakeholders to maintain their security, availability, and performance.

 

  

What you’d be responsible for

 

  • Designing, administering, and supporting data center infrastructure, including firewalls, SDN/fabric architectures, hypervisors, unified compute platforms, and SAN storage solutions (e.g., Cisco ACI/HPE Aruba CX, VMware/Hyper-V, Cisco UCS/HPE/Dell, Dell/NetApp, or equivalent), as well as provisioning, maintaining, and troubleshooting data center and field IP networks.
  • Designing, administering, and supporting network management, change management, vulnerability management, IDS/IPS, SIEM, application whitelisting, and EDR solutions.
  • Assisting with the troubleshooting and resolution of SCADA network, communications, and infrastructure issues.
  • Ensuring security systems are properly configured, optimized, and monitored to protect EPCOR's operational computing and communications infrastructure from cyber threats and unauthorized or unintended changes.
  • Performing operational, technical, and compliance activities in support of EPCOR's NERC/ARS CIP program, including information classification, change management, access management, electronic security perimeters, physical security, malicious software prevention, security testing, ports and services management, patch management, incident response, disaster recovery, and audit evidence collection.
  • Partnering with EPCOR Information Technology teams to support OT user-facing applications, including ADMS and related operational systems.
  • Communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing, with team members, management, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintaining and updating infrastructure diagrams, documentation, and operational procedures.

 

 

 

 

What’s required to be successful

 

  • Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems Technology, or a related discipline is required
  • Minimum 4+ years of directly related experience
  • Experience designing, administering, and supporting enterprise network and security infrastructure in highly available operational environments.
  • Strong understanding of Operational Technology (OT), industrial control systems, and cybersecurity principles.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex network, communications, and infrastructure issues in real-time operational environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in cybersecurity, including threat identification, proactive defense, incident response, and mitigation strategies.
  • Experience with risk assessment, change management, log analysis, event correlation, and monitoring.
  • Familiarity with NERC CIP and other regulatory compliance requirements is an asset.
  • Experience securing and supporting ADMS, OMS/DMS, SCADA, or other real-time operational systems is an asset.
  • Networking, operating systems, and cybersecurity certifications are considered assets.
  • Experience with Power BI, SQL, RegEx, and Excel is an asset.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to learn, adapt, and thrive in complex technical environments.
  • Ability to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.

Wage: Starting at $56.15 per hour (Final Wage and Step will be determined at the time of selection and based on a combination of factors as outlined in the collective agreement.)

Hours of work: 80 hours biweekly
